Friends of Visitacion Valley Middle School is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Visitacion Valley Middle School, a public middle school in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley neighborhood.

VVMS is a Title 1 school serving about 300 students, 86% of whom qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. It is also a Newcomer school, where more than 30% of students are learning English, and 70% of students currently test below grade level in reading. Our demographic breakdown is 10% African American, 13% Asian American, 5% Filipino, 53% Latino, 7% Pacific Islander, 2% White, 6% Two or More, 4% Unreported.  

These numbers tell only part of the story. Behind them is a school with a small footprint and a big heart — teachers, admin, and staff who show up every day for their students, families building new lives in San Francisco, and kids working hard to find their footing and thrive.

Public school budgets don't stretch to cover everything a student needs to succeed. Field trips, cultural events, clubs, sports team equipment, supplies, and basic needs that are not met— these are the extras that turn a school day into a real education, and they're often the first things cut when funding is tight.

That's where we come in. Friends of Visitacion Valley Middle School raises funds directly for our students, filling gaps that the district budget doesn't reach. Every dollar we raise goes toward giving VVMS students the resources, experiences, and support they need to learn, grow, and succeed.
